Since most folks get frustrated from time to time, there is that everlasting question if depression is a real illness. The answer is: yes. The deadly one, that is. It has been stated that about one out of eight Usa residents will possibly become clinically depressed. Several experience it once in a lifetime, while others can have lots episodes.

This is a fact: if the person gets depressed initially, there is a 55 percent chance that he will fall to the same predicament over again. And come the second time, you will find the threat that this individual will go to a third depressing episode.

Depression is a real illness as it involves the mental, psychological and even physical function of the person. This is not just a transitive sad feeling that will go away when one wants it to. Like any other illness, major depression has additionally variations.

There are three types of depressive disorders: major depressive disorder, bipolar disorder and dysthymic disorder.

11. Physical aches and discomfort which have no physiological basis

The good thing is at the end of this dark canal called depression, there is great hope. Treatment is available in 3 types: psychiatric therapy, antidepressant medicine and the combination of the two. There are also times when electroconvulsive remedy (ECT) and light therapy are employed.
