Since most people get stressed out from time to time, there is that eternal question if depression is a real illness. The answer is: yes. The clinical one, that is. It has been said that about one out of eight United States residents will possibly become clinically depressed. A few experience it once in a lifetime, while others may have lots episodes.

11. Physical aches and discomfort that contain no physiological basis

Fortunately at the end of this dark canal called depression, there is great hope. Treatment is available in 3 types: psychiatric therapy, antidepressant medicine and the mixture of the 2. Right now there are also times when electroconvulsive remedy (ECT) and light therapy are employed.
